Dear Homeowners ... Just wanted to make everyone aware of a Recycling Don't. Our household recycling bins (red) are to be used to recycle CLEAN plastic bottles and containers, CLEAN glass bottles, and jars, and CLEAN cardboard and paper. If an item you no longer want is made of plastic and/or metal, it cannot be recycled in these bins. They should be placed in the trash dumpsters (green) or, better yet, taken to the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority Transfer Station (cmcmua.com) on Shunpike. The recycling centers that handle the household bottles, cans, and cardboard are not equipped to strip down multi-material items. Those items simply slow the sorting process and are ultimately sent to a landfill.
Last week we found a "Recycling Don't" in one of our red dumpsters -- 2 umbrella strollers and a child's trike. If they are no longer usable, they are considered trash, not recycling. If they can be reused, please offer them for free. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Comments are closed.
