​OSC POOL UPDATE

Dear Homeowners ... We wanted to give you an update on the pool repairs and our anticipated opening day.  As of now, we will not be open for Memorial Day Weekend but are hopeful that the pool will be open for the 1st weekend in June.

Here's a rundown of what's been happening with the pool the last few weeks.
 
We had hoped to uncover the pool and drain it the week of May 2nd.  However, the Nor'easter predicted for the end of that week put a damper on things.  The Certified Pool Operator we consult with each year STRONGLY recommended not to drain the pool until after the storm had passed.  
 
The following week, the pool was drained and power washed ... twice.  We knew there were several leaks that needed to be repaired as we had a leak detection company come in at the end of last season to test our pool.  There were 4 major cracks/leaks identified --- one of which was much more significant than anticipated.  It was huge, as you can see in the pictures, and after the crumbling cement (and caulk) was removed and the area prepped, it took 10 lbs. of concrete to fill the hole.  The 3 other major areas, as well as several minor ones, went through a similar process but didn't require anywhere near the amount of concrete to repair them.  
 
The concrete was allowed to dry and then the entire pool was acid washed to prepare it for painting.  
 
Two coats of paint have been applied with the final coat completed this past Friday.  
 
Now we're in the waiting period for the paint to dry and completely cure.  Per the paint specifications, it needs to dry for 5 to 7 "DRY" days with air circulating especially in the deep end.  If we have a rainy day, we need to add another day to the drying time.  
 
Then, 2 days to fill the pool with water and 3-5 days to get the chemicals correct.  
 
Once we have the pool filled and pumps running, we can schedule an inspection with Middle Township.  Once we pass inspection and balance the chemicals, we'll open for the season.
