Dear Homeowners ... Did you know that fat, oil, and grease can cause problems with our sewer lines and septic system just like wipes? Grease won't break down the way water, waste, and single ply toilet paper will. If you pour grease or oil down your drain, it ends up clinging to the pipes, solidifying, and clogging your line or your neighbor's line. When nothing can get through, the sewers backs up. Grease buildup can affect the performance of our septic tanks and can prevent them from properly breaking down waste. It also shortens the life of our leach fields. So what can you do to help? Simply pour all grease into a can or plastic container to solidify and then throw it away in the trash. Another good idea is to wipe your pans clean with a paper towel to make sure you don't let any grease get down the drain.
As always, thank you in advance for your cooperation and helping us keep OSC systems functioning properly for everyone. Comments are closed.
