Dear Homeowners ...
As we begin our investigation into repairing the septic fields on the 100 and 400 blocks, a survey crew has been in to verify property lines and note the location of the existing fields. You will see marker flags on both blocks. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE ANY OF THE MARKERS ... especially when you come in to clear leaves from your property. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. OSC Board Dear Homeowners -- Not only do wipes wreak havoc with our septic system, GREASE and OIL can irreparably damage our leach fields as it prevents water from seeping (leaching) into the ground. While we can periodically clear the lines leading to the leach field, repairing a leach field can be costly, time-consuming, and prevent use of the septic system during the repair ... if it is even possible. And, we have very few options for relocating a leach field and redirecting the sewer lines to it!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ... DO NOT DUMP GREASE OR OIL DOWN THE DRAIN. Please collect it in a container or wipe it out with a paper towel and place it in the trash. You'll not only help prevent sewer backups, but you will help extend the life of our leach fields. And, of course, please don't flush wipes or anything other than 1-ply toilet paper down the toilet. Note: We also tend to have a large number of emergency calls for sewer backups on weekends in the summer, especially holiday weekends, due to high water usage within our community. The water accumulating in our tanks simply cannot leach out into the ground at the same rate. We do monitor our tanks at least once per month and have the solids pumped out on a regular basis. We have over 11 septic sites containing 33 tanks within our community. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. OSC Board Dear Homeowners -- As you've heard many times over the last few years, wipes create havoc with our septic system ... from blocking incoming sewer lines to jamming grinder pumps in the tanks.
When Maintenance was picking up recycling this morning, they noticed a box from wipes. So we wanted to remind everyone, PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH WIPES OF ANY KIND down the toilet ... regardless of whether or not the package says "flushable". Please throw them in the trash. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. |
