CAMPFIRES ... Yes or No?

Dear Homeowners ...

The "No Campfires" sign is still up at the entrance to our Community.  Here are a few reasons why ...

• The Firewarden from the NJ Forest Fire Service was just in today, Thursday morning, to issue our Campfire Permit for 2025.  It is effective until midnight on October 31, 2025.
• As of today, Cape May County is still considered in a "Severe Drought" per the U.S. Drought Monitor. (See graphic below from drought.gov)
• For the overall safety of our Community, the Board made a decision to leave the sign up until more leaves are removed from our common areas and homeowner lots.  While our Maintenance staff has been working diligently to remove leaves and many homeowners have started clearing their leaves, there are still many leaves along the perimeter of our property.  One wayward ember from a campfire could easily ignite those leaves.

​While the fire danger for Cape May County is considered "moderate" today and there are no formal restrictions on campfires per the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, we would rather err on the side of caution until more leaves are removed from homeowner lots and common areas.

Therefore, we are urging everyone to be patient and wait another week or so before "sitting around the campfire".
